"FOD" ....... Definition
Foreign Object Damage. This is the damage caused by a potential “object” infiltrating a structure whilst being built or during a maintenance check.
The potential “object” can be as simple as a single rivet or bolt, piece of paper or even a small insect or feather which may fall or fly into part of an engine.
The efficiency of this part will be compromised but may also be critical or in some instances cause failure which could lead to deaths.

Foreign Object Damage is now a major factor facing many sectors including: Military Operations, Engineering, Aerospace and Power Generation to name a few.
No matter how diverse these sectors may be, they all have common goals and concerns: Damage Limitation, Health and Safety, Efficiency and Improved Safety.
If a foreign object is allowed to infiltrate a system, it can cause extremely high financial and/or human cost if undetected.

The introduction of Foreign Object Damage ‘FOD’ kits are an easy way to limit potential risk, whether this be during manufacture or maintenance and rework situations.
Our FOD kits use brightly coloured items to segregate areas, signage to increase awareness and specially constructed bags to minimise any foreign objects infiltrating open vents/pipes etc .
Understanding the potential risk and using one of our FOD kits will decrease risk but increase accountability during the flow of work being undertaken.
